A Purchasing Agent Drinks in an Irresponsible Manner, Gets Motivated to Get Treatment for Depression and Alcoholism, and Turns His Life Around
Stanley began drinking heavily when he was a junior in high school. From a positive way of looking at things, although he drank abusively when he was a teen and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of thirty he almost always drank in moderation.
After he finished his education he eventually found employment at a local steel mill where he applied himself and worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing manager. Unlike his other positions, as the purchasing manager he frequently took existing vendors and potential vendors to lunch and to various sporting events.
Though it was not written in concrete, meeting with existing vendors and potential vendors constantly involved situations in which alcohol was present. In fact, over the past seventeen months, Stanley had started to radically increase his work related and his social drinking. This has led to quite a predicament. To be precise, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more heavily he began to drink.
His Increasing Feelings of Depression Also Made Him Wonder Whether He Was Becoming Dependent on Alcohol
In point of fact, it didn’t take much time at all before Stanley’s abusive and careless drinking started to adversely affect his relationships, his work efficiency, his health, the money in his savings account, and his mental health. After many weeks of excessive drinking, Stanley, in fact, became troubled about his unhealthy and abusive drinking and questioned whether his alcohol-related concerns were alcoholism signs. To make things worse, his increasing bouts of depression also made him wonder if he was becoming dependent on alcohol. In short, Stanley obviously needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and alcoholism.
Stanley Needs Alcohol Detoxification and Alcohol Rehabilitation For His Alcohol Dependency and a Medical Evaluation Regarding His Depression
So Stanley used his problem solving skills, called his doctor, and scheduled an appointment for a complete physical exam. A week later after seeing his healthcare professional, Stanley unfortunately was told that he was alcohol dependent. His doctor informed Stanley that he needed to get alcohol detoxification and alcohol treatment for his alcoholism and that he also needed to get a medical assessment regarding his depression. In short, Stanley needed treatment for his alcoholism and depression.
Fortunately After His Treatment For Depression and For Alcoholism, He Felt Like a Different Person
His physician suggested to Stanley that he request a two-month leave of absence from work and get admitted into a quality in-patient alcohol rehabilitation clinic where his depression could also be treated. This is precisely what Stanley did. The good news is that after his treatment for depression and for alcohol addiction, he felt like a different person. In truth, now that he was living an alcohol-free life he hardly ever got depressed and he now comprehended how to more successfully and productively manage his relationships, his health, his job, and his finances.
To no one’s astonishment, the most difficult “test” Stanley encountered was at work. More to the point, he still took his existing vendors and potential vendors to various sporting events and to lunch, but after his alcohol treatment he managed to refrain from drinking while entertaining his clients.
It can be stressed that Stanley also discovered that none of his existing vendors or potential vendors thought any less of him because of his non-alcoholic lifestyle. Alternatively, he learned that his existing vendors and potential vendors respected him for maintaining his convictions.
After Stanley went through alcohol rehabilitation, however, he found out that he was a person who, for whatever reason, could not drink responsibly and in moderation. In actual fact he learned the hard way that if he stayed away from drinking, all of the other meaningful parts of his life would be fortified. At times, Stanley missed drinking, but the better health, relationships, finances, and the better work performance he experienced more than offset his love of drinking.
