Common Panic Attacks Symptoms and How to Stop Them

What panic attack symptoms should you look for to know if you are having a panic attack?

A panic attack can appear to be a more serious physical condition and can be very scary for the person having one. Many medical doctor have treated an panic sufferer who thought they were having a heart attack, but its always a smart idea to see a physician if you think you may have a dangerous medical problem.

Here are the most common panic attack symptoms:
-heart pounding or racing
-feeling dizzy, spacey or an “unreal sensation”
-nausea or butterflies in your stomach
-shaky feeling in your legs and/or hands
-sense of dread for no reason or intense, sudden fear
-fear you are having a heart attack or that you could die

If you have panic attack symptoms like these and find them very frightening, you may feel better knowing you are in good company.

Anxiety symptoms and panic attacks are very common today in our stressful world. When your physician has cleared you of any serious medical conditions, you can relax a little knowing that panic attack symptoms are not fun, but you will not die.

While the majority of panic attack symptoms last only a few minutes to about half an hour, they can be perplexing because they often happen in places where there is no danger or cause for extreme fear.

Often a first panic attack occurs sometime in adulthood, but there are people who have panic attack symptoms as children. Anxiety attacks often begin after a stressful life event such as a death, divorce or job loss.

Since these panic attack symptoms can happen anytime, anywhere and often without warning, sufferers feel a dreadful lack of control.

Most panic attack sufferers feel out of control and confused about how to avoid a future attack. Since they can happen with no real cause, its difficult to know how to prevent these frightening panic attack symptoms. It’s very common for people with panic attacks to avoid going back to the place where the panic happened, but this is not a good way of coping with anxiety. It does nothing to avoid future attacks, and as more panic episodes occur, there will be more places to avoid. This can close you off from people and places you love, and that’s not how anyone should have to live.

Avoiding places can lead to an extreme anxiety disorder called agoraphobia, which is a condition where a person is too afraid to truly leave their home. It can be so severe there are some who have stayed in their homes for years. It’s so unfortunate this happens because anxiety and panic disorders are treatable.

While an anxiety attack is not going to kill you, there is no cause you have to just suffer through them either. There are treatments that work and much you can do for yourself to stop your panic attack symptoms for good.
