Dealing With Pre-school Separation Anxiety
Any parent who has had to deal with sending their child off to pre-school for the first time knows exactly how this can easily become a stressful ordeal. This can be a stressful event not only for the child but for the parent/s as well. There are several steps you can take in order to decrease the stress for your child and make the process a little easier.
Keep in mind that choosing a school for your child is not like buying cameron cookware stainless steel stovetop smoker. As a parent you want to make sure you are placing your child in a qualified institution, a place that you know will take care of your child while you are not there. Investigate the school, visit the facility and talk to the teachers.
Over a healthy breakfast (which is a must that is part of your weight loss plans) that will give him/her the energy they need to get through the day, make sure to praise him/her. Let them know they are a big boy/girl. You are proud of them for going to school and learning new things.
Let your child know what you will be doing while they are away. This will reassure them that you are not sending them away because you love them any less. Also talk in detail about the things they will be doing in pre-school. This will give them something to look forward too.
Let them know when you are coming back, and stay true to your words. Whether they are being picked up by buy, or you are going to pick them up make sure to tell them exactly what will happen. Once you give your word, make sure to keep it. This lets your child know they can trust you.
As the parent, remember to choose a pre-school you trust. This will help lessen the separation anxiety on your end. When you know you are leaving your child in a safe environment you can deal with pre-school much better than if you are having doubts about the facility and the teachers.
When it is time to say good-bye to your child, be firm. Do not linger around the school, or hug the child too tightly for long. This is just confusing. Remember, your kids are smart and they can sense your emotions.
Just like diets that work, sending your child off to pre-school is a state of mind. You have to prepare yourself first and then take action. Be firm and let your child know you will be waiting for him/her when they get home.
